We Don't Rent Pigs

45 minutes from Las Vegas, nestled in the Eldorado Canyon, lies one of Nevada’s most nefarious mining towns; Nelson Ghost Town. The town is home to the Techatticup mine, a mine that produced millions of dollars of gold and silver starting from the mid 1800’s until the mine’s closure in 1945. Like any mining town in the 1800’s lacking women and law enforcment, Nelson became known for its lawlessness, murder and a town whose riches were paid for in blood. Today, Nelson is a popular tourist destination offering rich gold mining history, all things vintage and a perfect day trip from, Las Vegas!

“We Don’t Rent Pigs” takes you on a photographic journey through the town’s general store, abandoned gold mines, vintage cars and much more! 57 representative photographs have been selected from my various trips to the town over the 2021 and 2022 winters and include photographs made of both digital and 35mm film formats. Nelson Ghost Town has quickly become one of my favorite towns to explore out west and I hope it becomes one of yours, too!

The accompanying limited edition zine is sold out, but please check the store for prints from the project.
