The Road Led West

I’ve always loved a good road trip. The rolled down windows, loud music, horrendous dieting that comes with roadside restaurants and the suspense of whatever might be lurking around the next turn are magnetic. This quest to experience the unseen has led me down various highways, backroads and through most of the continental United States. One highway that had always escaped me was Route 66.

The following images are a selection from, “The Road Led West”; a photo documentation of my two week journey from Chicago, Illinois to Santa Monica, California along the Mother Road, Route 66, in April of 2020. I packed the car with my favorite beef jerky and my dog Marlee and I set out to explore what it was that had been attracting travelers from all corners of the globe since its inception in the early 1900’s.

“The Road Led West” offers viewers a glimpse into classic Americana. Quirky old signs, deteriorating yet charming infrastructure, historic businesses,  wigwam hotels and classic rides  are just some of the aspects I’ve chosen to share. Please see the shop for open and limited edition prints and my upcoming book, as well as instagram for more pictures from the trip. Thank you for viewing!
